Rev. Jimmie L. Scott
Associate Minister

Reverend Jimmie L. Scott is a Unity minister who brings a diversity of experience and interests to his ministry. This diversity expressed through his wit, wisdom, and "dry sense of humor" provides an interesting insight into Unity's teachings and Truth in general.

Jimmie officially began his ministry at First Church Unity in Nashville, Tennessee in February 1985, as an associate minister with a base of 14 people and a 9:00 am Sunday service. He was selected as First Church Unity's senior minister in May 1988. During his time as senior minister he ministered to a rapidly growing congregation that today numbers over 450 people. In September 1990, First Church Unity, under his direction completed a 1.2 million dollar new building project.

From October 1991 to October 1992, Jimmie served as president of Unity Churches' Southeast Region and subsequently served as second and first vice president of the Association of Unity Churches International. From June 1997 to June 1998, Jimmie served as Chairman of the Executive Board of the Association of Unity Churches International.

From 1992 to 1994, Jimmie served as spokesperson for Nashville's "Institute for the Healing of Racism", an organization he helped establish for the purpose of promoting racial harmony and cultural diversity. The institute's accomplishments involved, among others, the training of Metropolitan Nashville police officers and Vanderbilt University's staff and students of the University School in diversity issues. From 2000 to 2003, Jimmie served on the Board of Directors of Renaissance West, Inc., an alcohol and drug treatment center in Kansas City.

Jimmie's secular interests have included services as vice-chairman of C.O.P.E., an organization founded to provide training and job placement for the mentally and physically handicapped. He also served as an arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau's Automobile Arbitration Program. He is a past advisor for Junior Achievement; counselor for abused and neglected children; and past chairman for the advisory board of Community Enhancement, and alcohol and drug abuse council for teens.

Jimmie graduated from Unity Institute, the Association of Unity Churches Urban Ministerial Program, and Wayne County Community College. Having attended Bellarmine University and Campbellsville University in Kentucky, the Jungian Institute in Zurich, Switzerland, combined with a host of marketing and business programs.
