Prayer of the Month, June 2005
Sequestered in a Sun-dappled Clearing

submitted by Allen Page

When I am quiet, I imagine myself sequestered in a sun-dappled clearing by a brook. The gently waving ferns have found a haven here along the gurgling stream, as have I. And here is GOD. As always, God is in the clamor of the workaday world as well, but I forget. Thank you, God, for the many reminders of your love. I need only respond to partake.

You know my needs, my times of trials, sorrow and despair and you are always within reach. This little brook speaks your promises to all who will listen, "I am here", "be not afraid", "do not sorrow for you are my beloved child in whom I am well pleased." And I am lifted. I remember that I am whole and always blessed by your love. And for this I say, "Thank you, God; thank you, God; thank you, GOD."

And so it is. Amen.
