If you haven’t heard, the carwash was a big success! Thanks
to all the volunteers, just under $700 was raised for the Angel Fund! If
you were a volunteer by donating items, baked goods or funds to the
carwash, working the carwash, or having your car washed, know that you made
a difference in our church family! What I found beautiful was watching so
many of us working together in joy for a cause greater than us. I would
like to acknowledge the Uniteens for hanging in there until the end washing
cars and cleaning up, Alex Then for setting up a system where the cars were
moved in a timely manner, Maureen Bonenfant for donating
the beautiful cakes used in the raffle, all the other volunteers who
contributed in a myriad of ways and especially to Beatrice Clendenine who
brought this from an idea to fruition. Thanks to all of you for a wonderful
time and worthwhile experience.
Thank you to everyone who donated gas and groceries gift cards. It
truly was Christmas in July for the giver and the receiver. Christmas in
July was as successful as the angel tree at Christmas time. You all are
awesome!
The month of August we are collecting school supplies at a time
when an increased number of families are having financial difficulty. We
hope to enhance these children’s learning experience by providing them with
supplies they may not ordinarily have. We all know at least one teacher who
out of the goodness of their heart buys school supplies for these children
in their classes. Let’s free up those teachers to invest in other teaching
aids. Thank you for all who have donated.
Our active Outreach membership is low so we are requesting that
anyone who feels called, please join us or inquire about us. The holidays
are approaching and we will need your input and help. Sometimes we just
need an inspiring attitude and fresh ideas. There is a sign up list in the
Narthex or call Sondra Rosequist at 460-0261. We feel a sacred
responsibility, individually and collectively, to make a positive difference
through personal example and active service in our church and community.
