This interactive presentation explores ancient universal principles, world religions, and African history prior to 1492 CE, with a special focus on Ethiopia and Egypt. Through sacred texts, archaeology, historical documents, anthropology, linguistics, arts, and sciences, participants will discover how human history, spirituality, and culture are deeply interconnected across civilizations.
Designed to be both engaging and reflective, this class encourages open dialogue and shared exploration across diverse spiritual traditions—including Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and ancient Egyptian teachings.
As we deepen our understanding of our shared histories and spiritual foundations, we also expand our capacity to understand one another. About Christopher:
Christopher Griffin approaches both history and faith as a lifelong student and learner. A multidisciplinary educator, engineer, and researcher, he brings a unique blend of technical expertise, teaching experience, and historical inquiry to his work.
Christopher holds degrees in Applied Electronics, Mathematics Education, Electrical Engineering, and Physics Education. He currently works in the nuclear engineering overhaul division at Newport News Shipbuilding, specializing in reactor plant electrical systems for nuclear-powered submarines and aircraft carriers.
His passion for ancient history has led him to extensive independent research across the fields of Egyptology, archaeology, linguistics, anthropology, and comparative religion. Drawing on his background in education and interdisciplinary study, Christopher explores the historical and cultural foundations of faith traditions, with a particular interest in the role of Africa in the development of religious thought.
A Unitarian Christian, Christopher's spiritual journey has included divinity studies, Bible study leadership, prison ministry service, and the study of Egyptian hieroglyphs. His presentation, Hidden in Plain Sight: Discover the Origins of Faith in African History, invites participants to examine often-overlooked connections between ancient African civilizations and the religious traditions that continue to shape the modern world.
