I’ve been thinking a lot about Rev. Rene’s talk “You are the Creator of Your Experience” and about the power we have in every moment to make a conscious choice.
Sometimes we convince ourselves that because we’ve made a certain choice before, followed a particular path, or responded to life in a familiar way, we have to keep doing the same thing. But I’m realizing that I don’t.
I can make another choice.
And even more importantly, I can make that choice consciously.
There is a difference between simply allowing life to happen and consciously participating in the creation of the life I desire. When I choose consciously, I am no longer operating solely from habit, fear, past conditioning, or what is familiar. I am taking responsibility for what I am choosing to experience, how I choose to respond, and—most importantly—who I choose to be.
For me, conscious choice is an acknowledgment of the Divine power within. It is recognizing that I am a co-creator with Spirit and that my thoughts, beliefs, actions, and decisions are continually shaping my experience.
That realization brings both freedom and responsibility.
I can choose differently when something no longer aligns with the vision I hold for my life. I can release what I have outgrown. I can change my mind. I can forgive myself. I can begin again.
My past choices do not have to become my future decisions.
And making another choice doesn’t mean the choice I made before was wrong. Perhaps it was exactly the choice my consciousness allowed me to make at that time. I honor that version of myself—and I also honor the awareness I have now.
New awareness gives me the opportunity for a new choice.
So today, rather than choosing by default, I choose with intention.
I choose to listen to the Divine wisdom within me. I choose what supports the highest vision I hold for myself. I choose from possibility rather than limitation, from love rather than fear, and from the awareness that Spirit is always present, guiding me toward my highest and greatest good.
Perhaps this is one of our greatest spiritual freedoms: knowing that at any moment, regardless of what we have chosen before, we can consciously choose again.
