Beloved Community,
As we embark upon this New Year, the world around us is ever changing. This is not unusual. That is what form does; it is always changing. Our collective consciousness – our thoughts, beliefs, focus of awareness – reflects into form our predominant energy. This is the way things work. This is metaphysical law.
When the EGO mind is in charge, it Edges God Out. And if God is edged out, you can be sure that “others” will be as well. Think of all the ways our neighbors are being defined and divided rather than elucidating our inherent oneness and need for one another to be happy, healthy, and free.
In our teaching, God is Love. It expresses as Peace, Oneness, Power, Intelligence. It is Present Everywhere. It is the only thing that is truly Real. All else are shadows, puffing themselves up pretending to be real. Shadows can be quite scary and feel real. Luckily this is only so when we focus upon them. We have the ability to look beyond the shadows that fear cast.
This is not political, my friends. Yet, metaphysical and spiritual laws operate equally, everywhere. That includes the political arena.
We all know what is loving, kind, harmonious, and equitable. I have found if conversations focus here, upon these things, most folks I know find agreement and a return to oneness.
Yet, when something feels broken, it is we, the collective, that have the power to be positive agents for change. If our spirituality is indeed practical, how do we apply it in what we are witnessing in our world?
In our White Stone Ceremony last Sunday we listened for Spirit to guide us by giving us a new name or quality or way of being to embody at this precise time in our spiritual awakening.
We considered that the “new name” or word we each received combine to create a Unity Renaissance Love Poem. It is this that guides us individually and collectively to meet the opportunity the world presents us now. Remember- there is one word you are here to say with your whole being.
When it finds you, give your life to it. Don't be tight-lipped and stingy. Spend yourself completely on the saying. Be one word in this great love poem we are writing together.
What was your one Word? If you have not yet discerned yours, it's not too late. Listen to last Sunday’s lesson and continue to listen for how Spirit is calling you. This new name, yours, mine and ours, guide us in how to be and what to do in our lives and world.
Are you willing to share, anonymously, your one word with us?
Are you willing to contribute to the Unity Renaissance Love Poem?
Throughout January, we will collect the words anonymously and then create a visual Love Poem to share with you. If you are in the Sanctuary on Sundays a card is available upon which you may write your WORD and place it in the offertory basket. You may also confidentially email to revrene@unityren.org.
I Love You,
Reverend René
